Découverte de Athletic Bonnie aujourd’hui. Un groupe indie pop français qui fait du bien. Sincère, spontané et naturel. A la question "d’ou viennent-ils ?" on hésite encore entre Picardie et Auvergne en fonction des sources. Mystère.

Chant en français, mélodie fraîche, simplicité touchante. Un truc qui me plait aussi, c’est qu’ils ont décidé de commencer leur aventure après un concert de Electrelane, et comme j’adore ce groupe... Un bon premier EP!

Crayon & Pyramid – So Far Gone EP

Deux excellents producteurs electro français sur un EP.

L’un flirte avec un son disco/funk où la basse groovy est loin d’être paresseuse : Le Crayon.
L’autre a un style à la fois plus mélodique, cosmique, futuriste mais peut être aussi un peu plus violent : Pyramid.

Deux producteurs, deux genres qui se mélangent à la perfection sur un très bon EP chez Kitsuné : So Far Gone ! Nickel !

Two nice french electro producers for one record.

One flirts with a disco/funk sound where the groovy bass is not lazy : Le Crayon.
The other has a different style, more melodic, cosmic, futuristic but also a little bit more violent: Pyramid.

Two producers, two genres that blend to perfection in a very good EP for Kitsuné: So Far Gone! Great!

Future Loves Past - Future Loves Past EP

Future Loves Past, c’est un nom un peu étrange on vous l’accorde pour un groupe de folk. On a découvert le groupe de Phoenix avec leur premier EP éponyme. Les six américains proposent une musique simple mais très agréable. C’est une rencontre entre le son rock des années 70 (The Feelies par exemple) et la folk moderne que font des groupes comme Noah and The Whale, The Leisure Society ou Real Estate. Les chansons sont riches en mélodies.

Future Loves Past, what a strange name for an indie folk band. We discover them with their first eponym EP. The six American musicians propose a simple and nice music. It is a meeting between 70’s rock sounds (The Feelies for example) and modern folk band such as Noah and The Whale, The Leisure Society or Real Estate. Songs are rich in melodies.

The Shh - The Burning Love EP

Ecrite entre Paris et l’ile de Malte, la musique de The Shh, apparait comme un secret. Leur premier EP, The Burning Love évoque les sons du surf rock. Accompagnées d’une voix chaude, les mélodies du duo se développent doucement. 

Vous ne trouverez pas le prochain tube de l’été, mais quatre agréables et relaxantes pistes et c’est honnêtement difficile de dire laquelle est la mieux. C’est un Ep entre folk et dream pop.

The Shh's music emerges, in secret, from a place in between the city of Paris & the Island of Malta. Their debut EP, The Burning Love, evokes surf-rock sounds with warm 'Summer of Love' vocal melodies. 

You will not find summer hits in this EP, but four nice and relaxing tracks and it is honestly difficult to say which one is the best! It is between folk and dream pop.

Sohight - High School

Une chanson, trois remixes, c’est le nouveau EP de Sohight. On vous avait déjà présenté le duo il y a quelques mois pour la sortie de leur premier travail, Boys EP. Originaire du milieu de la Russie, ils produisent de la Nu Disco assez classique mais efficace. 

La recette est la même que la dernière fois pour High School, mélange de synthpop 80’s et d’électro moderne. Les remixes étirent la piste. Parfois orienté dancefloor, parfois plus pop, c’est assez difficile d’élire le meilleur. A vous de choisir !

One song, three remixes, this is the new EP of Sohight. We already presented them to you a few month ago with their first realization, Boys EP. Hailing from the middle of Russia, they produce a classic but efficient Nu Disco music. 

The recipe is the same as last time for High School. It’s an interesting mix between electro pop and disco music. It’s difficult to say which remixe is the best. 

It will be available from April 13th on Kiez Beats Records.

The Fiction - My Dear

Australie, trois garçons, ils sont The Fiction. Moktar, James et Daniel jouent ensemble depuis un peu plus d’un an, en faisant du post punk assez efficace. Ils ont déjà sortis deux EP et ne se prennent pas vraiment la tête! 

Il y a quelques mois, The Fiction a mis en ligne une vidéo pour ce qui est probablement leur meilleure chanson, My Dear. La voix est sombre, et on aime la bass grondeuse. On devine facilement que Joy Division est l’une de leurs principales influences. Le son de la batterie est très proche de celui de Disorder. La piste et sa dynamique sont sympas mais on a été assez déçu par les autres, souvent trop rugueuses. En téléchargement gratuit ici.

Australia, three guys, they are The Fiction. Moktar, James and Daniel are playing together since the middle of 2010, making post punk and they already released two EP. 

Some months ago, they put online a video for maybe their best song, My Dear. The voice is dark, and we like the rumbling bass. We obviously guess that one of their main influences is Joy Division. The sound of the drums is very close to the one in Disorder. This track and its dynamic are nice but we were a bit disappointed by the others, sometimes too rough. Free download here.

Suburban Living - Give Up

Dans chaque ville des Etat Unis on peut trouver des jeunes qui jouent de la musique avec leurs amis dans le garage, et en ce moment la mode est au shoegaze dream pop. Parmi tous ces groupes, on a été séduit par Suburban Living. 

Mené par Wesley Bunch, la bande de Norfolk (Virginie) prépare un EP pour 2012. Ils en donnent un premier aperçu avec une chanson plutôt sympa : Give Up. C’est jeune, c’est simple, et ça a du potentiel. Ils commencent tout juste, ils ont mis en ligne leurs deux premières chansons le mois dernier. In each part of the United States you can find people playing music with friends in the garage, and at the moment, the trend is to shoegaze dream pop music. Among all these new bands, we were seduced by Suburban Living.
