Bon Voyage - L'imposture

Bon Voyage est de retour de vacances avec de nouvelles productions fraichement sorties de la valise. Dès la première écoute de L'Imposture, on reconnaît les synthés du groupe et on comprend vite que c’est vraiment leur instrument de prédilection. En effet, les français s’arment d’une batterie réglée comme un métronome et de nappes de synthés léchées, agrémentées de petits sons sortis de nulle part. 

L’album oscille entre musique planante et mélancolique tout droit sorti d’un film hitchcockien, et beat dansant, presque disco/funk à certains moments. Il faut tendre l’oreille pour être sûre de ne rien louper ! Un mélange de sons étranges et merveilleux à la fois, qui nous invite dans un monde parallèle. 

Nous, chez Vocododo, on a fait le voyage et on est revenu conquis par ce nouvel opus!

Bon Voyage is back from vacation with new productions freshly out of the bag. Upon first listen of L'Imposture, you recognized the band’s synths and you soon realize that it is definitely their favorite instrument. Indeed, these French musicians arm themselves with a drum kit set as a metronome and synths licked, embellished with small sounds coming from out of nowhere. 

The album oscillates between melancholy and relaxing music straight out of a Hitchcock movie, and dancing beat, almost disco / funk at times. Must strain to be sure not to miss anything! A mixture of strange and wonderful sounds at the same time, which invites us into a parallel world. 

At vocododo, we made the trip and we came back in love with this new album!

Galaxies - Letters From Sea

Un nouvel EP pour Galaxies. Entre musique électro expérimental et dream pop, ce projet venant du Colorado est loin d’être déplaisant. 

Letters from Sea est un Ep très harmonieux. Si on essaye de faire une métaphore, on peut dire que les chansons se suivent les unes après les autres comme les chapitres d’un livre, ou alors comme Dillon Groeneman le dit "Six songs as letters written to places while sailing far away at sea". Au fait ce garçon joue de tout ici, du ukulélé aux claviers, tout en chantant. Une production très soignée supporte sa musique. 

Et en cadeau, vous avez sa meilleure chanson : Sailing.

A new EP from Galaxies. Between Experimental electronic and dream pop, this is a nice and interesting project from Colorado. 

Letters from Sea is a very harmonious Ep! If we try a metaphor, we can say that these songs are like chapter of a book or as Dillon Groeneman says, "Six songs as letters written to places while sailing far away at sea". By the way, this guy is playing everything from ukulele to keyboards. A nice mastering supports his music.

Moreover, for free, you have the best song: Sailing.

Synthcake - Musicophilia

Cinq drôles d’énergumènes jouant une étrange musique, voici Synthcake. C’est assez difficile de mettre dans une case ce groupe originaire de Vancouver. Musicopholia est le nom de leur premier EP sorti cette été. 

Dans un style cabaret loufoque, Synthcake propose un musique à la fois pop et psychédélique. On trouve un nombre assez impressionnant de sons, et de textures dans ces six chansons. On aime cette voix jazzy et ce synthé décalé! En téléchargement gratuit !

Five fanatics playing a strange music, this is Synthcake! It’s quite hard to put this band from Vancouver in a box. Musicopholia is the name of their first EP, released this summer. 

Synthcake manages to combine pop music and psychedelics influences, It’s outrageously fanciful. There is an incredible number of sounds, rhythms and textures in these six songs. We like this jazzy voice and this burlesque keyboard! Free Download !

Seppuku - Permanent Real Delicate

Quelque chose de plus expérimentale avec Seppuku ! Originaire de Knoxville, Seppuku est le projet post punk d’Adam Cottle et il vient juste de sortir Permanent Real Delicate, son premier EP chez Dracula Horse.

C’est difficile de trouver de la cohésion entre ses 6 morceaux. Parfois très bruyant, parfois plus mélancolique, chaque chanson a sa propre personnalité. Evaporating Rain et ses échos semblent venir d’un autre univers, l’imprononçable et sombre 0I08T001 est saisissant…

Dans un genre complètement différent, Adam Cottle enregistre aussi des trucs plus électro sous le nom d’Arrete. Qui sait, vous pourriez peut être en entendre parler très bientôt sur Vocododo.

Ce n’est pas le coup de foudre dès la première écoute, mais plus vous écoutez Seppuku, plus vous l’aimez.

Something more experimental with Seppuku! Based in Knoxville, Seppuku is Adam Cottle’s post punk project and he just recorded Permanent Real Delicate, his first Ep on Dracula Horse.

It’s difficult to find cohesion between all this 6 tracks. Sometimes noisy, sometimes melancholic, each song has its own personality. Evaporating Rain and its echoes seem to come from another universe, the unpronounceable and dark 0I08T001 is seizing…

In a completely different style, Adam Cottle is also recording electronic stuff under the name of Arrete. Who knows, you may hear about him very soon on Vocododo.

It’s not love at first sight but, the more you listen to Seppuku, the more you like it.

Nakion - Oh Ah!

Parlons aujourd'hui de la petite protégée des Parisiens de Tigersushi: Nakion. "Oh Ah!", sorti le 28 mars, est le premier album de cette jeune musicienne et peintre coréenne. Nakion aligne tous les gimmicks des 80's de la no wave. Une musique folle qui rappelle le Yellow Magic Orchestra, Art Of Noise ou Human League, autant qu'Aphex Twin. Elle réactualise ainsi, dans son home-studio de Séoul, la new wave à l'aide d'expérimentations plus modernistes, des sons de films de science-fiction et de kautrock débridés.

La musique de Nakion est travaillée et de qualité. La belle dessine un paysage chaotique peuplé de mélodies étranges aux sonorités rave, electro et disco... Sa musique penche parfois vers l'expérimentation sonore, pour notre plus grand plaisir.

Voici le morceau "Horse Track", fou, tordu, intense.

Today, let's talk about the little one of the Parisians of Tigersushi: Nakion. "Oh Ah!", released on March, the 28th, is the first album of this young Korean musician and painter. Nakion lines up all the 80's gimmicks of no wave. A crazy music that reminds us the Yellow Magic Orchestra, Art Of Noise, Human League or Aphex Twin. Then, she updates, in her home-studio in Seoul, new wave thanks to more modernist experimentqtions, sounds of science fiction and unbridled kautrock.

Nakion's music is well-made and high quality. The beauty is drawing a chaotic landscape inhabited by strange melodies with rave, electro and disco sounds... Her music sometimes leans over experimentatal sound, for our greatest pleasure.
