Entre nostalgie année 80 et dream'pop à fleur de peaux, les californiens passent aussi bien pour nos après midis sous la couette que pour une observer les nuages allongés dans l'herbe.
Les thèmes repris et le style ne sont pas sans rappeler les français Kavinsky ou M83 sont ils ont d'ailleurs sortis un remix.

For a sweet sunday you can listen to the creamy synth-waves of The Northern Lights. Between 80's nostalgic sounds and emotional dreampop, The Californian have what you need wether you want to stay in bed all the day or to lay down on the grass watching the clouds.
Their music and universe that you can discover on their soundlcoud, reminds us French artists like Kavinsky or M83.
Venu tout droit de Brisbane, les quatre garçons de Mitzi opèrent une pop très douce, limite disco. Il y a un peu de Jamirquai au travers des beats dansant, mélangés avec des lignes de bass très lisses et une voix suave qui vous berce lentement. Une recette paradoxale mais qui fonctionne à merveille! Les australiens ont surtout un sens développé pour pondre de très belles mélodies avec de bons arrangements.
Leur dernière piste, Who Will Love You Now, est le genre de morceau planant qui s'écoute à n'importe quelle heure du jour ou de la nuit. On se laisse rapidement bercer par cette douce mélodie, accroché par ces notes de synthés qui vous piquent au vif, disparaissant aussi vite qu'elles sont apparues.
En bonus, All I Heard, un autre enregistrement du groupe un peu plus punchy, qu'on apprécie beaucoup. Et allez donc faire un tour sur leur soundcloud, ils y postent régulièrement des mixtapes de très bonne facture!

Straight from Brisbane, the four boys of Mitzi operate a very soft pop, dico limit. There is a bit of Jamiroquai through dance beats, mixed with very smooth bass lines and sultry voice that lulls you slowly. A paradoxically recipe, but ilt works grat! Australians have especially a strong sense for laying beautiful melodies with good arrangements.
Their last track, Who Will Love You Now, is the kind of song that listening hovering at any time of day or night. We quickly left soothed by the gentle melody, caught by these synths notes that bit you in bright, disparing as quickly as they appeared.
Bonus, All I Heard, an another record a little more punchy of the band that we really appreciate. And have a look on their soundcloud, they regularly post very good quality mixtapes!
Ca faisait longtemps qu'on avait pas été aussi confiants sur l'avenir d'un groupe français. Pour Aline, aucun doute, impossible de ne pas taper des mains en cadence un sourire béat sur le visage tellement leur musique est pleine de quiétude et d'énergie positive... une vraie bombe. Les inrocks ne s'y étaient pas trompés en couronnant le groupe sous son ancien nom, Young Michelin, au concours CQFD 2010.
On pourrait se dire que c'est encore un groupe de Shoegaze/New Wave à la française comme il y a plusieurs en ce moment. Il y a un peu de ça, ils prennent part avec Yan Wagner, Lescop, la Femme, Granville à ce renouveau Romanitco-New-Wave-80's particulièrement enthousiasmant. Mais si leur son est tintés des Smiths, de Daho et que le chanteur rappelle vraiment Indochine, le groupe fait une synthèse heureuse de leurs influences et produisent de la "petite chanson sympa" qu'on aime bien écouter allongé sur son lit.

It has been a long time since we haven't been so confident concerning a French band. There is no doubt for Aline. It is literally impossible to listen to there music, that is full of positive energy and happiness, without intuitively clapping hands and having a naive smile on our face... This album is a real bomb. French magazine "Les Inrocks" were definitely right when they elected them best band at the CQFD contest in 2010.
People could think it is another French Shoegaze/ New Wave band like there ar plenty of them currently. It is quite true. With Yan Wagner, Lescop, La Femme, Granville and others, they participate to the Romantic-Modern-80's renewal and it is a great piece of news! Even is it sounds like the Smiths, Etienne Daho and that the singer reminds us Indochine, they generate the kind of "nice song" we love to listen to lying on our bed

fills the sonic space with very typical 80's analog sounds, but with some
emotion. And that is the main strength of the american! You quickly get trapped by these synth waves, disco beats and synth pads that
leave you dreaming. Without noticing, the foot swing tempo, head swinging
nonchalantly from left to right. We want more!

Peut-on décrire cette musique comme une sorte de chillwave 80’s? Qu’importe, on découvre Soft Lighting et c’est un nouveau projet assez intéressant. En fait, c’est le travail de Bryan Cox, un musicien/producteur originaire de Kansas City qui doit être bercé par les bandes sons vintages.
La piste Up All Night est sensible et intrigante. On trouve à la fois une certaine quiétude planante mais aussi une énorme tension. Deux autres chansons assez plaisantes sont déjà disponibles.
Grace à son studio de chambre, son premier album, Slow Motion Silhouettes est attendu pour le premier mars. Restez à l’écoute !

Can we describe it as a kind of 80’s chillwave? Maybe! Anyway, we discover Soft Lighting and it’s more than an interesting project. This is the solo work of Bryan Cox, Kansas City based musician/producer.
The track Up All Night is very touchy and intriguing. There is at the same time a nice quietude but also a huge tension. Two other nice songs of Soft Lighting are also already available.
Stay tune, thanks to his bedroom studio, his first album, Slow Motion Silhouettes is expected for the first of March.
On sait pas vous, mais nous on a qu'une envie avec les températures polaires de Paris en ce moment, c'est de se blottir au fond d'une couette et de buller. Et pour ça, rien de telle qu'une petite musique doucerette... On pense avoir ce qu'il vous faut pour ça avec Azure Blue, le projet solo d'un certain Tobias Isaksson. Le nordique a sortis en décembre un album de saison, Rule of Thirds.
Venu du Nord, le suédois nous fait partager sa vision de l'océan à grand renfort de murmures, de beats marqués et de nappes de sythé profondes. Le résultat donne une musique aux forts accents Chill-Wave, qui reprend les codes et les valeurs du surf rock. Au final ça donne un son à mi-chemin entre la gaieté naïve et la nostalgie.
Alors on enfile ses chaussettes et on fait de beaux rêves...

We don't know how you feel currently, but the only stuff we want to do in the freezing city of Paris is just get in our bed and have a rest... The only thing we need is that case is a good and soft music... Actually Azure Blue, Tobias Isaksson's solo project sounds perfect for that! The guy from the North released in December it début album, Rule of Thirds, that is perfect for winter.
The Swedish guy shares it vision of the Ocean with wisphering voices, vintage beats and deep synthetizer waves. The result is a Chill-Wave music mixed with a surf-rock touch. Finally, the sound is between naive joy and nostalgia.
So get prepared to take off your socks and to dream.
