One song, All of The People, just a perfect sunny synth-pop track. Almost no information about this project based in New York but fans are already numerous.
On a découvert Il y a peu Bleeding Gold Records grâce à The Pipers. Supportant de nombreux artistes originaires d’un peu partout dans le monde, le label a aidé Marc Desse a sortir son premier EP, (Romance) le mois dernier.
Entièrement chanté en français, cette EP est une déclaration d’amour à la pop indé française. Un peu de Mathématiques Modernes pour l’esprit, un peu d’Indochine (début 90) pour les paroles, et un peu de The Cure pour les guitares : Comparez Acte Manqué et Just Like Heaven. La voix d’Anna apporte de la candeur et de la douceur aux chansons et renforce le coté années 80.
Déception : Il semble que les non français soient d’avantage séduit… Dommage!

We discovered Bleeding Gold Records a few weeks ago with The Pipers. They support very nice artists such as Marc Desse. This Parisian fellow released his first EP, (Romance) last month.
Entirely sung in French, this EP is a kind of love declaration to French indie pop music. A bit of Mathématiques Modernes for the spirit, a bit of Indochine for the lyrics, and a bit of The Cure for guitars: Compare Acte Manqué and Just Like Heaven. The female voice of Anna bring candor and softness to give a 80’s aspect to these songs.
Disappointment: it seems that non French people are more seduced… It's a shame!
The Pipers est en fait le projet solo d’Aaron Richard Piper, un ancien membre d'un petit groupe anglais, The Notes. Il a sortie quelques morceaux cette année, et un premier EP cet été intitulé Moonlight.
Parmi les quatre chansons indie pop de l’EP, deux ressortent du lot : Moonlight et Field Together, plus sensibles. Avec sa voix lointaine, ses effets sur les guitares, le son de The Pipers reste fortement influencé par le shoegaze et la musique lo-fi.
Début décembre, il a aussi mis en ligne via son bandcamp deux autres chansons, dont la délicate Cold Winds.

The Pipers is actually the project of one guy, Aaron Richard Piper, a former member of the English band The Notes. He released a few tracks this year including an EP this summer entitled Moonlight.
In this Ep, you can find four indie pop tracks but to be honest they are not all as well, Moonlight and Field Together are much more touching. With its faraway voice and its effects on guitars, the sound of The Pipers is strongly influenced by Shoegaze and lo-fi music.
At the beginning of December he released another very nice track via his bandcamp page, its name is Cold Winds.
Avec un deuxième album et dix nouvelles pistes, Sea Pinks fait son retour. Il y a quelque semaine on parlait de Girls Names ; le batteur Neil Brogan fait partie de cette autre aventure.
Tout en gardant sa fraicheur, le trio originaire de Belfast ne change pas de style. Dead Seas est un album que l’on pourrait qualifier de Jangle Pop ; c’est un peu comme si les Byrds se remettaient à jouer. Ils jouent des mélodies pop avec un esprit un peu Lo-fi / garage.
L’album de Sea Pinks est très homogène, mais on vous a sélectionné nos deux pistes favorites : Autumn Song et Fountain Tesserae.

With a second album and ten brand new tracks, Sea Pinks is coming back this autumn. Few weeks ago we were talking about Girls Names; the drummer Neil Brogan is taking part of this other adventure.
While keeping their freshness, the Belfast trio doesn’t change its style. Dead Seas is a jangle pop album; it’s as if as if The Byrds were playing again. We enjoy the lo-fi / garage spirit of the band.
Sea Pinks album is very homogeneous but we selected our two favorite tracks for you: Autumn Song and Fountain Tesserae.

Orca Orca est le projet solo de Jim Hewitt. Sa première réalisation, Change of Pace 7” est disponible gratuitement sur son bandcamp, tout comme ces deux nouveaux titres.
Avant Orca Orca, il avait monté Young Minds, un autre groupe qui sonnait un peu plus lo-fi. La guitare prend le rôle principal avec la batterie qui conduit littéralement la mélodie dans Change of Pace. Avec When The Sun Comes Up, c’est la même recette en plus aérien.
Et pour Qualms? On peut dire que le son de ces deux amis est légèrement plus électronique et peut être plus mélancolique. Vous pouvez aussi écouter Denial Isle, leur dernier single pour leur futur LP.

Dream Pop projects are emerging every day at the moment, and we’re not going to complain.
Orca Orca is the solo project of Jim Hewitt. You may find his first release Change of Pace 7” for free download at his bandcamp page as these two new songs.
Before Orca Orca, he had set up Young Minds, another band which was sounding a little bit more lo-fi. Guitars are taking the main role and Drums in Change of Pace are really driving the melody. With When The Sun Comes Up, it’s the same recipe!
About Qualms? We can say that the sound of these two friends is slightly more electronic and maybe more melancholic. Check also Denial Isle, the first single of their upcoming LP
On a eu beau chercher, c’est quasiment impossible de trouver quelque chose sur Athletes. D’après leur page Soundcloud, il/elle ou ils sont du Danemark, mais sur leur page Bandcamp, il est écrit qu’ils viennent des Etats Unis…
Qu’importe leurs origines, ils ont mis en ligne trois chansons dans les deux derniers mois, et ont démontré peu à peu leur potentiel. Fall Apart, leur dernier titre, vient de sortir jeudi. Il y a quelque chose de mystique ici, les guitares délicates et les sons aériens du synthé vous bercent doucement. La voix semble être un écho lointain, et murmure «I’m in my dreams, calling for you » dans Nowhere. On aime cette pureté mixé avec une bonne rythmique.
Ne soyez pas inquiet, c’est pas non plus soporifique ; la dream pop d’Athletes est comme hors du temps !

We searched, we tried to find information, but it’s almost impossible to find something about Athletes. According to the Soundcloud page, he/she or they are from Denmark, but on the Bandcamp page it’s written that this music is from the USA…
Anyway, they produced three songs in the two last months, and they demonstrate little by little there potential. Fall Apart, the last one just came out last Thursday. There is something mystic in this sound, the delicate guitar and the synthesizers gently lull you. The voice which seems to be a distant echo whispers “I’m in my dreams, calling for you” in Nowhere. We like this purity, melts with nice drums beats.
Don’t be afraid, it’s not soporific at all; Athletes’ dream pop music is out of time!

On ne pensait pas qu’un jour on vous parlerait d’un groupe originaire des Philippines. C’est chose faite aujourd’hui grâce à Moscow Olympics ! Rien à voir avec les russes, aucun rapport avec le sport, on parle ici d’Indie Pop.
En 2008, ils sortent un premier mini-album intitulé Cut The World, ils font les premières parties des suédois de Radio Dept en Asie, et depuis pas grande chose, jusqu'à la semaine dernière. Moscow Olympics propose habituellement un rock assez animé avec quelques rythmes plus Post Punk.
Ils reviennent avec une nouvelle version de Keeping The Avenues Open. Cette piste est peut être un peu décevante, un peu trop aérienne et mielleuse. Mais on pardonne facilement leur tendresse, et l’on prend juste cela comme une opportunité pour découvrir ou redécouvrir leurs anciens titres!

We didn't think that one day we would introduce you a band from Philippines. Done today, thanks to Moscow Olympics! Nothing about Russians, nothing about sports, it deals with Indie Pop.
In 2008, they released a first mini-album entitled Cut The World, they toured in Asia with the Swedish band Radio Dept, and since that, almost nothing until last week. Moscow Olympics usually plays a lively rock with some Post Punk rhythm.
They come back with a new version of keeping The Avenues Open. This new track is maybe a little bit disappointing, maybe too aerial, and too smooth. But we easily forgive their tenderness here and take it as an opportunity to discover or rediscover them!
Petit coup de projecteur aujourd'hui sur Junior Boys, groupe en provenance d'Hamilton et signé sur le label Domino Records. Voici un nouveau titre proposé par ce groupe d'indie-pop electro, en attendant leur nouvel album It's All True (14 juin). Se prélassant dans un joyeux fouillis de références culturelles (à savoir Orson Welles, Howard Hughes, la Chine, et plus particulièrement Shanghai, le Japon, la crème glacée à la banane, Carl Craig et les synthés analogiques...), Banana Ripple est un titre dance qui ne faiblit pas sur ses 9 minutes. Un beat entraînant, mené par la voix subtile de Jeremy Greenspan, des synthés à la fois agressifs et chics, le tout sur un fond disco efficace.
Résultat: un morceau parfaitement arrangé qui passe avec une rapidité surprenante, qui prend fin sans que l'on s'en rende véritablement compte.

Today, spotlight on Junior Boys, a group from Hamilton and out on the label Domino Records. Here's a new track proposed by this group of indie-pop electro, pending their new album It's All True (June 14th). Basking in a happy jumble of cultural references (ie Orson Welles, Howard Hughes, China and especially Shanghai, Japan, the banana ripple ice cream, Carl Craig and analog synths...), Banana Ripple is a dance track that does not get weaker during its 9 minutes. A driving beat, led by the subtle voice of Jeremy Greenspan, synths both harsh and posh, on an effective disco background.
To sum up: a perfectly well arranged song that goes at top speed and ends without feeling like it's truly over.
