Petit coup de projecteur aujourd'hui sur Junior Boys, groupe en provenance d'Hamilton et signé sur le label Domino Records. Voici un nouveau titre proposé par ce groupe d'indie-pop electro, en attendant leur nouvel album It's All True (14 juin). Se prélassant dans un joyeux fouillis de références culturelles (à savoir Orson Welles, Howard Hughes, la Chine, et plus particulièrement Shanghai, le Japon, la crème glacée à la banane, Carl Craig et les synthés analogiques...), Banana Ripple est un titre dance qui ne faiblit pas sur ses 9 minutes. Un beat entraînant, mené par la voix subtile de Jeremy Greenspan, des synthés à la fois agressifs et chics, le tout sur un fond disco efficace.
Résultat: un morceau parfaitement arrangé qui passe avec une rapidité surprenante, qui prend fin sans que l'on s'en rende véritablement compte.

Basking in a happy jumble of cultural references (ie Orson Welles, Howard Hughes, China and especially Shanghai, Japan, the banana ripple ice cream, Carl Craig and analog synths...), Banana Ripple is a dance track that does not get weaker during its 9 minutes. A driving beat, led by the subtle voice of Jeremy Greenspan, synths both harsh and posh, on an effective disco background.
To sum up: a perfectly well arranged song that goes at top speed and ends without feeling like it's truly over.
