Charlotte Gainsbourg - Paradisco (Francophilippe Remix)

Francophilippe a eu la bonne idée d’essayer de remixer Paradisco, une des dernières chansons de Charlotte Gainsbourg. L’originale est déjà pas mal (même si on n'est pas forcément un énorme fan de la chanteuse), mais le DJ anglais apporte une touche funky assez intéressante. 

Tout comme The Karachi Yacht Club, ou SoHight, Francophilippe appartient à la Yeah!/Dish Records family. Pour faire simple, cela veut dire qu’il joue une musique bien dansante combinant des influences dico, funk et électro. La fille de Serge arrive sur le dancefloor.

Francophilippe had the good idea of making a remix of Charlotte Gainsbourg’s song, Paradisco. The original is already a nice track (even if I’m not a huge fan of her), but the English guy brought an interesting funky touch. 

As The Karachi Yacht Club, and SoHight, Francophilippe belongs to the Yeah!/Dish Records family. It’s means that he plays a dancing music combining disco, funk and electro influences. Serge’s daughter is coming on the dancefloor.

Ghetto House! It’s how The Karachi Yacht Club defines its sound, and it’s a quite a good way to sum up this style. This new artist is from Paris and he just put his first track, Tough Kid online via soundcloud. And it’s on Yeah!/Dish Records!

Before to press play read his introduction: « 1991. Karachi's marina is crowded. Bobby McDyess, a local retired cop , get on his boat with a bunch of girls, as usual. But when he gets inside, he found a compact disc on the sofa. Max volume, full engine, he leaves the yacht club... »

SoHight - Boys EP

Perdu au milieu de la Russie, non loin de la frontière du Kazakhstan, deux amis, Yaroslav and Stephan composent ensemble sous le nom de SoHight. Ils viennent juste de sortir leur premier EP hier. 

Tout d’abord, on aime beaucoup le nom de leur label : Yeah!/Dish Records. Après, on doit aussi admettre qu’on apprécie leur son. Ils ont réalisées deux pistes, Boys et Stardust pour cet EP. On a l’impression que le tout à été enregistré à la fin des années 70. Leur musique est bien rythmée, mais parfois les claviers sont un peu trop kitsch. 

Il ya aussi quatre remixes de Boys pour continuer dans le même esprit. Pour nous, le plus accrocheur est celui de Moustache Machine.

In the middle of Russia, not far from the Kazakhstan border, two friends, Yaroslav and Stephan are playing together under the name of SoHight. They just released yesterday their first EP today. 

First, we like the name of their label: Yeah!/Dish Records. After, we must admit that we also appreciate their sound. They made two tracks, Boys and Stardust for this EP. It just seems that they were recorded at the end of the 70s. Their music is nicely rhythmic, but sometimes keyboards are too kitsch. 

There is also four remixes of Boys to continue in the same spirit. For us, the catchiest is the Moustache Machine’s one.
