Маяк - Выше звезд

On est encore sous le charme de Маяк (Mayak). On vous les avait déjà présenté ici et nous sommes heureux de partager avec vous le dernier EP de ce projet qui vient de Kharkov. Cinq ballades électroniques et poétiques; un voyage dans le temps. Un vent de nostalgie musicale souffle sur l'Ukraine.

We are still under the spell of Маяк (Mayak). We already presented them here and we are happy to share with you latest EP of this Kharkov based project. It is five poetic electronic ballads; it’s a journey through time. A wind of musical nostalgia is blowing over Ukraine.

Destin - Mirage EP

Dehors il fait beau, le soleil brille...

C'est comme ça que commence Mirage, l'EP des parisiens de Destin et on s'est dit que c'était plutôt de saison. La joyeuse bande, signée chez Polydor nous fait revivre les meilleurs moments du disco avec une touche toute franchouillarde et un second degré délicieux. 

Destin c'est un peu comme un pote de lycée. On les avait rencontré il y a deux ans avec leur single Adélaïde qui avait eux les honneurs de Kitsuné, et on avait aimé! Et puis plus rien... jusqu'à cet EP. Les deux compères se sont dotés d'une formation live toute belle complètement déjantée et qui fait trembler les murs.

Dans un monde idéal, il devrait y avoir un groupe comme ça à tous les mariages et Bar-mitsva de la planète. Si seulement...

Outside the sun is shining,

This is how Mirage, the EP of Destin, a parisian band starts. We thought it was the right season to talk about them. The happy five-member-crew's main goal is to make us revive the French 80's disco and they are pretty successful.

Destin looks a little bit like old folks you haven't seen for a while. We discovered them two years ago when they released their first single Adelaïde and we really enjoyed! Since then, no news... until this EP. The two friends came back with an incredible and eccentric live band that makes walls shake.

In an ideal world, there would be the same kind of band at every wedding or Bar-mitsva of the planet. if only it were the case...

Маяк - Река

Nous avons été séduits par Маяк (phare), un mystérieux projet ukrainien et sa musique électronique/ambient rêveuse et délicate. Река (rivière), le premier album est presque entièrement instrumental; les mélodies des synthétiseurs se mélangent pour créer une atmosphère relaxante et planante.

Le côté lo-fi du son apporte beaucoup de chaleur à la musique. On dirait que cet album a été fait il ya 30 ans, On peut entendre le crépitement du vinyle. La texture, la production nous amène dans le monde merveilleux de la nostalgie et de l'innocence. Notre titre préféré, le plus punchy, c'est Новые дома (maisons neuves).

We have been seduced by Маяк (lighthouse), a mysterious Ukrainian project and its dreamy and delicate ambient/electronic music. Река (River), the first album is almost entirely instrumental ; keyboards melodies are mixing themselves to create a relaxing atmosphere.

The lo-fi side of the sound brings a lot of warmness to their music. It seems that this album was made 30 years ago; you can hear the crackling of the record. The texture, the production brings us to the wonderful world of nostalgia and innocence. Our favorite track is Новые дома (new homes), the punchiest.

Another Green World - Dream Detective

C'est peut-être pas le genre de musique qui plaît à tous nos lecteurs, mais parfois, on ne peut pas résister à partager quelques chansons pop bien catchy qui sentent bon la synthwave des 80's. On a bien apprécié le dernier EP de Another Green World. Électro rétro!

FM Attack - Deja Vu

Pour les amoureux de synth pop 80’s, on vous recommande fortement d'écouter le dernier LP de FM Attack. Le producteur canadien a sorti son deuxième album, Deja vu, il ya quelques semaines, et a reçu pas mal de bonnes critiques. Sans surprise, il ya de très fortes influences vintages (claviers, rythmes et mélodies), mais aussi une touche de modernité. Avec la voix de Kristine, Magic est notre titre préféré. On tombe sous le charme des la première écoute !

Et si vous n'écoutez généralement pas ce genre de new wave rétro, voici une bonne accroche pour devenir fan.

For 80’s synth pop lovers, we highly recommend you to listen to FM Attack latest LP. The Canadian producer released his second album, Deja vu, some weeks ago, and received many nice critics. With no surprise, there are very strong vintage influences (keyboards, beats and melodies) but also a touch of modernity. With Kristine’s voice, Magic is our favorite track.

And if you usually don’t listen to this kind of retro new wave, just try it and you will adopt it.

Seb O - Althea Motel

Excentrique, planante, magique, moqueuse, la musique de Seb O. semble sortir d'un délire 80's. Les guitares avec leurs sons éthérés et exotiques se mélange aux claviers retros pour donner un cocktail indé pop élégamment francophone. On apprécie les textes décalées et la voix malicieuse qui nous narguerait presque. Althea Motel, le premier EP est sorti cette semaine, c'est made in Biarritz. La voix suave de Merril Delanne sur Cocktail Vortex et Althea Motel est délicieuse. Vortex, le mot clé !

Surprenant à la première écoute, c'est vraiment atypique et plus on écoute ces cinq pistes, plus on aime...! On espère qu'on aura le droit à un clip bien kitsch !

Eccentric, trippy, magical, sarcastic, the Seb O. music seems to come from a 80's trip. Guitars with their ethereal and exotic sounds are mixed with retros keyboards and give an elegant French indie pop cocktail. We appreciate the shifted lyrics and the mischievous voice almost taunt us. Althea Motel, the first EP was released this week. It is made in Biarritz.

Yunost - A Neverending Story

Yunost, c’est le genre d’artiste qui ne sera vraisemblablement jamais connu, mais qui a un style vraiment unique, nostalgique et féerique qui nous séduit. Cet artiste nous avait déjà fait rêver ici !

Le son est kitsch mais la mélodie est légère. Avec la vidéo, on a vraiment l’impression d’avoir à faire à un conte de noël, il y a un peu de magie. Et puis chez Vocododo, on aime bien les vieux films soviétiques !

Бесконечная история (une histoire sans fin) : à regarder avec son bol de chocolat chaud et ses pantoufles.

Yunost is the kind of artist who will probably never be famous, but who has a very unique style, nostalgic and magical that seduced us. And this artist already gave us an invitation to dream here !

The sound is kitsch but the melody is sweet. With the video, it sounds like a Christmas tale and there is a little magic. And, we must admit it, we really like old Soviet films!
