From Tchernobyl With Love est plus posé.

They are definitely not outdated! After la Planche released in December that has been praised, La Femme did it again with a brand new single out today: Paris 2012. No, don't think it is the name of a dubious ad campaign for the Olympics. The young French guys (around 18) deal with the Apocalypse with one song about the end of the world next year and the other one about the Chernobyl disaster.

The two songs are quite different. Paris 2012 is a demonstration of the Characteristic ardor of the band: the rhythmic is quick and insistent... Just like with Sur La Planche. From Tchernobyl with Love is quieter. A melancholic text is spoken on a background music. The track sounds like some Cold Wave B-sides.

The thing we enjoy about la Femme's music is not particularly their melodies but rather that unique sound and ambiance... Dynamic and revisited New Wave samples from people that didn't lived the 80's and can make them modern.

Germany Germany - Adventures

A suivre!

From Victoria, Canada, all we can say is that Drew Harris, alias "Germany Germany" is full of resources. The young Canadian has already released 4 really good EPs and plenty of remixes which are, for most of them, legally available on his website. Delightful.

On the 15th of May, the artist is doing it again with a 17 song LP, "Adventures", and is already granting small pieces of it every months. In May, we can listen to "Just Go" on the bandcamp of "Grnmy Grnmy". According to Drew the song is more chill and quiet than most of the album as well as full of feelings and can, with its light sounds, transport us anywhere, far away... to be continued!

Metronomy - The English Riviera

Everybody was waiting for it, here it is! The new Metronomy Album is now available and two new members have joined the crew for live performances.

The first thing we notice is that the record has the right name: We can easily imagine the stripped deck chair, the rake, its bucket and everything… Because it is spring, it is still not so warm in Brighton, the sun is far, we won’t get close to the sea-side, we could get a cold… That is a little bit how we feel listening to the album, The Sea is present everywhere, in titles, in disseminated Ukulele riffs but also in wavy, far away sounds of the record which remind us the playground of Poseidon.

We only wish Mount took as risks as in 2008 with « Nights out » when he proposed loads of Colored Low-fi synthesizers sounds directly coming from a 80s SF movie and other crazy voices.

The Records remains very attractive: it perfectly mixes melancholy, vintage nostalgia like in « Troube » with pop, punchy moments which will make everybody dance this summer with incisive Drum and bass riffs.  Everything is well managed… Nothing to declare!
