Zigitros - Zigitros

Leur album est sorti aujourd’hui. Zigitros est le premier album éponyme du duo suisse composé de Alban et Christian. Il font partie de la famille de Oh, Sister Records avec d’autres groupes locaux, dont Silver Firs dont nous avons déjà parlé sur Vocododo.

Ils décrivent leurs musiques comme de la future folk. C’est une assez bonne description, en fait il y a vraiment deux couches dans leurs chansons. La première est composé d’accords folk joués par les guitares, la deuxième est plein de petits effets électroniques, et de petits détails qui renforcent leurs morceaux. On peut facilement le sentir sur Wondering White, leur premier single de qualité (gratuitement ici). Ecoutez aussi Witch Hunt!

Parfois pop, parfois bon, parfois pas fou, cette album est complexe.

Their record is out today! Zigitros is the first self-titled album of a Swiss duo composed of Alban and Christian. They belong to the Oh, Sister Records family among others bands such as Silver Firs, a band we already talked about on Vocododo.

They describe their music as Future Folk. Indeed, there is two layers in their songs. The first one is composed of classic folk guitars playing some arpeggios and the second one is full of little electronic effects, little details giving more power. You can easily feel it in Wondering White, a nice first single (for free here). Check also Witch Hunt!

Sometimes pop, sometimes good, sometimes not so crazy, this album is very complex.

Dans La Tente - Did We Like It So Far or Have We Just Persevered?

Il y a quelques semaines, nous vous parlions de Silver Firs, un groupe suisse fort sympa, c’est maintenant le tour de leurs amis de Dans La Tente. Oui jeux de mots inatendu. 

Avec Did We Like It So Far or Have We Just Persevered?, leur premier album, les quatre garçons espèrent se faire connaitre en dehors des Alpes. Leur son est assez atypique. Il y a une esthétique touchante dans leur chanson qui nous ramène à l’époque où Mitterrand nous dirigeait, mais c’est aspect rétro est loin d’être ennuyeux pour autant. On peut facilement le voir dans le clip de As long as the heart keeps beating, réalisé l’année dernière. 

C’est peut être étrange, mais on ressent un certain pessimisme ou cynisme quand on entend la voix du chanteur et la texture des claviers, et cela se confirme en jetant un coup d’œil au nom du groupe et de l’album. Dans La Tente subis les influences des 80’s mais arrive malgré tout à apporter sa petite touche personnelle. Deux extraits ci-dessous.

Some weeks ago we were introducing to you Silver Firs, a pleasant Swiss band, this the turn now of their friends Dans La Tente. 

With Did We Like It So Far or Have We Just Persevered?, Their first album, the four guys hope to make themselves known out of Alps. Their sound is quite atypical. There is a soulful aesthetic in their song taking back to Thatcher’s time, but without being annoying. You can easily see it in the video clip made for As long as the heart keeps beating, last year. 

It’s maybe strange, but we can feel a kind of pessimism or cynicism when we hear the voice of the singer and the keyboard sound, and also when you have a look at the name of the album and of the band. So, Dans la Tente is of course influenced by the 80’s, but they try as much as possible to bring their own touch. Two extracts below:

Silver Firs - Away We Go

Changement de cap pour le groupe d’électro rock Must Have Been Tokyo. Vous ne connaissiez pas? C’était prévisible mais c’est vraiment dommage...

Basses grondeuses et synthés accrocheurs, les suisses nous avait habitués à hocher la tête et taper du pied avec des titres comme Street Kids ou Young Love. Ils n’ont pas malheureusement pas réussi à s’exporter en dehors des Alpes. 

Un nouveau projet est donc né : Silver Firs. Un nouveau nom mais aussi un changement de style. Le groupe a annoncé la sortie d’un premier album prévu pour cet automne. Les premiers extraits, moins électronique, plus sensible et plus mature peut être illustre parfaitement cette évolution. It's a big shift for the electro rock band Must Have Been Tokyo. You didn’t know them? It was predictable but it’s a pity. 

Exciting basses and catchy synthesizer, we were used to nod our head and stamp one's foot with songs like Street Kids or Young Love. The Swiss unfortunately didn’t export themselves outside the Alps. 

So, a new project came out: Silver Firs. A new name but also a style change. The band has announced the release of a first album scheduled for this fall. The first samples, less electronic, more sensitive and maybe more mature, shows perfectly this evolution. Here, we present you Away we go, full of emotion and free on their Bandcamp.
